After graduating from the U.S. Air Force Academy and serving my required 4-year hitch, in 1966 I came eagerly to New York City to pursue an acting career. Bill Hegeman was a huge help to me by allowing me to share his apartment at 227 Waverly Place (just off Seventh Avenue and over the Village Vanguard nightclub). Bill helped me with acting tips and showed me which trade publications to peruse when looking for work.
