After Yale Bill received his Master of Divinity degree from Crane Theological School of Tufts University in 1966. He was ordained into the Unitarian Universalist ministry and served UU churches in Connecticut and Vermont.

In June of 1976 he suffered his first heart attack, followed by a stroke in October 1977. The only residual from the stroke was a speech impairment which precluded his continuing to be a preacher. Bill, for the ensuing 15 years, devoted his time to being the parent at home with his two children, enjoying life on a lake in Maine.

He was able to continue with his many community service interests : A Hospice volunteer, small-bore target shooting coach for juniors at the local rifle club and XC skiing coach during the winters and summer camp counselor in the summers. He was an avid fly-fisherman and wild flower photographer.

He suffered his fatal heart attack on June 29, 1992 at age 53.

Bill is survived by his wife Elizabeth, son John (Carleton College 1991/Univ. of Ill. MLS 1994) and daughter Anne (Colby College 1999) and 3 grandchildren.
