Stanley Wells Stillman died peacefully at home on January 1, 2026. He was 86 years old. A lifelong New Yorker, Stanley was born June 12, 1939, son of Charles Latimer Stillman and Frances Disosway Johnson. He attended Yale University and Harvard Law School. Stanley was the founder of Access Publishing Co. through which he covered topics ranging from university governance to international monetary policy. An avid sailor, he was happiest navigating the coastal waters of Maine with a crew of young people aboard. Stanley is survived by his children, Adrienne Stillman Krausz (Jacob Krausz) and Leland Stillman (Michelle Grant Stillman), his sister Louise Lehrman, 11 nieces and nephews, three grandchildren and a great many grand-nieces and nephews. He will be remembered for his gentlemanly manner, unmistakable laugh and staunch loyalty to his many lifelong friends. A memorial service will be held in New York later this year.
