Peter L. Weingarten

Peter Lawrence Weingarten    January 4, 1941 – March 29, 2021

There is no obituary but I found this note online: “I worked with Peter for 4-5 years at Colorado Orthopedic Consultants as a Surgical Assistant to him and all the Surgeons there and I always had great respect for him as a good Surgeon and good person. I helped him with his son who had a very bad knee injury in the Pacific Northwest with a brace to get him home to Denver and later to assist on his knee operation. Peter could always count on me for anything that needed to be done in the office and in the Hospital and I did it without question. I learned a great deal about Orthopedic Surgery and Orthopedic Medicine coming from a small town, Cincinnati, Ohio. I will miss him greatly and always admired his portrait of Albert Einstein in his office. Peter reminded me of him for some reason. Both are in a better place and will be missed by so many of his patients and co-workers and family. My condolences to his family, Sincerely Dave Marco CFA, CST”

I knew Peter mainly from our joint year of surgical residency at the 1st Surgical (Columbia) Service at Bellevue Hospital in 1966-67. He was a very conscientious and quiet resident so I was surprised when I learned that he sang in the NY Metropolitan Opera Chorus and was an avid white water kayaker. I actually went to the opera one night when he was singing. A wonderful experience. Although invited I did not go kayaking with him.
