My roommate and good friend Rocky (Hamilton Irving) Rothrock died last week (date uncertain) while on a photography expedition to the Antartic. Rocky was an avid hiker, rower, and naturalist, and was preparing to photography penguins on a remote glacier when he collapsed and died. I remember him as a brilliant student, a passionate rower on the varsity for four years, and a great friend through the years. He obtained a Ph. D. in electrical engineering from UPenn and worked for many years at Bell Labs. He is survived by his two children Steven and Kristen, and his companion Linda Lowenstein. All of his friends, including roommates Dave Hall and Dick Linburg, mourn his sudden death. A Memorial Service is planned for mid-December.
