1935 – 2010 KEENE, NH George M. “Ted” Henderson, Jr., 74, of Keene died suddenly, Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at the Cheshire Medical Center/Dartmouth Hitchcock, Keene, after a long series of illnesses.

Born in Belmont, Mass., May 23, 1935, son of Daphne Foster and George M. Henderson, he grew up in Belmont and was a 1952 graduate of Belmont Hill School.

He was an Army veteran, serving from September 1953 until September 1956. He then transferred into the Army reserves where he continued his military obligation until September of 1961.

Mr. Henderson received a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from Yale and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Georgia. While attending the University of Georgia, he met his future wife, Caroline “Carrie” L. Jacobs.

He worked for over 30 years as a purchasing professional and investor with the Atlantic Ritchfield Gas and Oil Company, which was based out of Dallas, Texas. He resided in Highlands, N.C. for 20 years before moving to Keene 8 1/2 years ago.

His many special interests included investing in the stock market and buying and selling antiques. While residing in Highlands, he was a member of the Highlands Rotary Club for 15 years, and was also a member of the Keene Rotary Club.

He leaves his wife of 30 years, Caroline “Carrie” L. Henderson of Keene, a brother, William F. Henderson of Putney, Vt.; two sisters, Daphne Foster Henderson and her husband, Jim Miller, of Carlisle, Mass., Sarah Henderson Lichtenstein and her husband, Gary, of Ridgefield, Conn., and a nephew, David Lichtenstein of Ridgefield.

MEMORIAL NOTICE: A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 24, 2010, at 1 p.m. in the FOLEY FUNERAL HOME (www.foleyfuneralhome.com), 49 Court Street, Keene. Family and friends are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests, for those who wish, donations may be made in Mr. Henderson’s memory to the Belmont Hill School, 350 Prospect Street, Belmont, MA 02478-2662.

Before joining our class, “Ted” served in the Army September 1953 until September 1956 and later in the Army reserves until shortly after graduation. Then, he earned and MBA from the University of Georgia. While attending Georgia, he met his future wife, Caroline “Carrie” L. Jacobs.

Ted worked for over 30 years as a purchasing professional and investor with the Atlantic Richfield Gas and Oil Company which was based in Dallas. He resided in Highlands, NC for 20 years, and moved to Keene, NH in 2001.

His many special interests included investing in the stock market and buying and selling antiques. While residing in Highlands, he had been an active a member of the Highlands Rotary Club for 15 years, later, he was a member of the Keene Rotary Club.

Ted died after more than 2 months in and out of hospitals and emergency rooms; he had suffered through difficult last 6 years, from the time of his bypass surgery in 2004 and through many critical health issues. He is survived by his wife, Caroline “Carrie”.
