SOUTHINGTON – F. Woodward “Woody” Lewis Jr., 75, of Southington, formerly of Wallingford and New Hampshire, died peacefully Friday, March 20, 2015, at The Connecticut Hospice in Branford. He was the beloved husband of Linda Lake Lewis.

Woody was born in Providence, R.I., July 30, 1939, a son of the late F. Woodward Lewis, M.D., and Elizabeth Allara Lewis, M.D., and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in History and Psychology from Yale University (1965); a Master’s in Business and Public Administration from the University of Oregon (1971); and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Connecticut (1973). Woody was a member of the Connecticut State Bar Association (1974), the United States District Court, District of Connecticut (1976), the United States Court of Appeals (1986), and the United States Supreme Court (1986). After admittance to the Connecticut Bar in 1974, Woody opened a law office in Yalesville, where he practiced successfully for 36 years.

In addition to his wife, Linda, he is survived by his children, Allarah McMullin (David); Andrea Ramirez (Alex), of Naugatuck; Davida Krystanowicz (Richard), of Southington; Mary-Elizabeth Joaquin (Timothy McGuire), of West Suffield; Eric Woodward Lewis, of Hamden; and Katherine Eunicemarie Lewis (A.J. Carrasco), of New York, N.Y.; his grandchildren, Andrew, Benjamin, Christalea, Jonathan, Jaden, Alexys, and Christopher; his sisters, Elizabeth “Tina” Nash (James), of New Hampshire; Nancy Parker (George), and Sarah VanHoogan, both of Massachusetts; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, David S. Lewis.

Woody’s family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wallingford, on Monday, March 23 (TODAY), from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 24 at 9 a.m. from the funeral home, when the funeral cortege will proceed to Most Holy Trinity Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment with military honors will be in St. John Cemetery in Wallingford.
