In Loving Memory of Edmund “Pete” Dewald Stafford
October 1, 1939 – August 26, 2025
Edmund “Pete” Dewald Stafford, beloved husband, father, grandfather, veteran, and community leader, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2025, in Naples, Florida, at the age of 85.
Born on October 1, 1939, in Glendale, New Jersey, Pete was the eldest of six sons. He graduated from Haddonfield Memorial High School and went on to attend Yale University, where he graduated in 1961. Shortly thereafter, he answered the call to serve his country, becoming a captain in the United States Marine Corps-a role he carried with deep pride and honor throughout his life. Following active duty, Pete served for over a decade in the United States Marine Corps Reserves.
Pete spent over two decades at Honeywell Inc., where his leadership and dedication left a lasting impact. Beyond his professional achievements, he found purpose in service to others. He served as president of the Voorhees Rotary Breakfast Club until his retired to Naples, Florida. His commitment to community and fellowship was unwavering. Pete Stafford was a living example of the Rotary motto: “Service before self.”
Faith was a cornerstone of Pete’s life. He was a long-standing member of Glendale United Methodist Church and, upon retiring to Naples in 2004, became an active member of North Naples Methodist Church. His generosity of spirit, leadership, and unwavering belief that nothing is unachievable were felt deeply by all who worshipped and worked alongside him.
Pete was married for 63 devoted years to his beloved wife, Lynne Karol Stafford. Together, they built a life centered on love, family, and enduring partnership. He was a proud and loving father to Deborah Stafford-Antonelli, Edmund “Mundy” Stafford, Jennifer Stafford. Pete was Father-in-law to Stephen Antonelli, and a cherished grandfather to Austin and Ava Antonelli.
Those who knew Pete will remember his integrity, determination, and wry sense of humor. Always offering a word of advice, a helping hand, or engaging others in a “quick 5-minute project”, he led by example-with dignity, and diligence.
A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. There will be a viewing at Gardner Funeral Home – Runnemede, on Friday, from 10am to 12pm. Funeral service to follow at the funeral home at 12pm. Interment Haddonfield Baptist Cemetery.
He will be dearly missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
