Denis M. Lorenz passed away peacefully on Monday, December 16, 2024, at Sunrise Senior Living in Fairfax Virginia at the age of 85. He was surrounded by family during the last few weeks of his life.
Denis was born in New Haven Connecticut and received a bachelor’s degree in English literature from Yale University and a master’s degree in library science from Simmons College.
Over his career, he held many librarian positions of increasing degree of responsibility. He retired as the Director of the West Hartford Public Library in Connecticut.
He had a love for sailing, traveling, cooking, enjoying restaurants and was a wine enthusiast.
Denis is survived by his son Sean Lorenz of Virginia, his wife Ruby, and their children Kisten-Lea, Zoe and Dean, by his daughter Alison Grover of Minnesota, her husband Craig and their children, Aksel and Anika, and by his son Arthur Lorenz of California and his wife Jayne, and was predeceased by his loving wife Harriet of over 52 years.
The family wishes to thank all the staff at Sunrise Senior Living for their quality care with personalized services and support. A private family gathering is planned to celebrate his life.
