Children: Cary; Christopher; Jennifer, 1976
Nick and I lived in Virginia Beach until 1965 while Nick was involved in destroyer service in the U. S. Navy. Our two sons, Cary and Christopher were both born during this time. Subsequently, and for the next 32 years, Nick worked at J. P. Morgan, and during that time started the firm’s international investment management business in London. While we were in London, our daughter, Jennifer, was born (1976).
In 1984, Nick was appointed President and Chief Executive of J. P. Morgan Investment Management Inc. with over all responsibility for investment management. From 1981 to 1997, when it merged with American Reinsurance Company, Nick was a director of the Executive Committee of Munich American Reinsurance Company.
Nick was a director of Phoenix House, a trustee of The John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation and a trustee of The Hospital for Special Surgery. From 1985 to 1996, he served as a trustee of St. Mark’s School, Southborough, Mass.
For most of our time on Long Island, we lived in a house in Mill Neck and also had a farm house on the Hudson River in Stuyvesant, New York. All three of our children are currently living and working in New York City.
Nick died from pancreatic cancer in July of 2001.
